MIDDLEBOROUGH  -  John E. Madej, age 83, of Middleborough, died on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the Morton Hospital in Taunton.

 

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John & Veronica (Shumsky) Madej.  John grew up in Dorchester, West Roxbury, Roslindale and graduated from Hyde Park High School, Class of 1958.  He worked many jobs; started as a tool and die maker, established a bartending business with great storytelling all around Boston including Southie, was a grower of annual and perennial flowers as well as a pumpkin farm and became a loan originator for mortgages at Direct Finance.  John retired in 2008 and was a lover of the outdoors, especially working in his yard and gardening.  He enjoyed fishing, watching classic war movies and loved his faithful companion dogs he had over the years.

 

John was the beloved husband for 44 years to Lisa (Dwyer) Madej; loving father of Stephanie Madej of Taunton and James Madej of Middleborough; dear brother of the late Janet Swyers and Richard Paul Madej.

 

Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Monday, March 10, 2025, from 3:00-6:00 PM, with a Prayer Service starting at 6:00 PM.

 

Interment services will be private.
