MIDDLEBOROUGH- Helen T. Walsh, age 97, of Middleborough, died peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Nemasket Healthcare.

She was born November 26, 1926, in Methuen, to the late Thomas & Almira (Maker) Walsh. Helen attended public schools and graduated from Quincy High, class of 1945. She expanded her education, enrolling at Emmanuel College, majoring in music, then New England Conservatory, majoring in piano. For years, Helen was a certified pastoral musician for the Arch Diocese of Boston. She was an organist for many parishes, such as Our Lady of Lourdes in Carver, North Middleborough Congregational Church, Saints Martha & Mary in Lakeville, Saint Joseph’s in Kingston and Sacred Heart Church in Middleborough.

Helen used to be a substitute teacher for schools. But her passion was piano, which she taught privately for over 50 years! Helen also taught herself how to write and became a published poet. She enjoyed supporting numerous organizations and charities, such as St. Joseph’s Indian School, the ASPCA, the Arch Diocese of Boston, Educating Africans for Christ, Sister of St. Francis of Assisi, and the North Shore Animal Rescue League. Helen was truly a one of a kind person and will be missed dearly by her friends and students.

Helen is survived by her “chosen” family & close friends Michael Andrade, Karen Fernald, Ronald Cromwell, Russell Salazar, Henry Rondelli, Rita Rondelli, Laura Perkins Swanson, and Rebecca Bowens.

Family and friends are welcome to the visitation period at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 9:15 - 10:15 AM, followed by Helen’s funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Isidore Parish, SACRED HEART CHURCH, 340 Centre Street, Middleborough, at 10:30 AM.

Interment will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Wood Street, Middleborough.
