Go Fourth and celebrate Independence Day in Middleboro

Jul 2, 2023

MIDDLEBORO — From corn dogs to the carousel, Middleboro’s carnival featured familiar elements, even if at times fair-goers had to dodge raindrops to savor the celebration.

The carnival, held at  Pierce playground complex on Jackson Street, is just part of the festivities in the town to help residents commemorate the Fourth of July.

A changeable sky didn’t appear to dampen the enthusiasm of children of all ages who were riding the flying swings, “fishing’’ for prizes in a small pool or driving cars in a classic amusement ride Sunday afternoon July 2.

The Fourth of July events continue with traditional features throughout the week.

The July 4 parade steps off at 10 a.m. at Titicut Green on Plymouth Street.

Other July 4 special activities include a watermelon eating contest and greasy pole event at 1 p.m. July 4 at the Pierce playground complex on Jackson Street.

And of course, there is still plenty of time for the community to take a ride to the carnival.

The annual carnival continues to Saturday July 8.

Hours are: Monday, July 3, 6 to 10 p.m.; Tuesday, July 4, 2 to 10 p.m.; Thursday, July 6, 6 to 10 p.m.; Friday, July 7, 6 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, July 8, 2 to 10 p.m.

The carnival is closed Wednesday, July 5.
