Children treated to Halloween with crafts, critters
MIDDLEBORO — Youngsters visited Forever Farm Saturday Oct. 26 to celebrate Halloween alongside some four-legged friends.
They played games, created paper pumpkins and showcased their costumes while helping to raise funds for the Forever Farm.
The farm is home to 18 rescue animals, including donkeys, horses, chickens, pigs and goats. The rescue recently received its official non-profit status, president Nichole Botelho noted.
“We’re going to try to do two events a month,’’ she said, “to raise money for the animals.’’
Young visitors said the event was a treat.
“I love all the animals,’’ said Lilah Costello, 11, as she played a fall-themed tic tac toe game with her dad, Bob Costello. She is especially excited, her dad pointed out, “because it’s a rescue.’’
Abbie Keller, 8, said she enjoyed using strips of orange paper to construct a pumpkin. She also liked the chance to do the craft “with friends,’’ she said.
Ellie Vesey, 2, played with toys while her brother, Colton Vesey, 7, looked on.
She summed up the best part of the day in one word that many can relate to.
“The candy.’’
