Berry Ink and Butter to fire extinguisher use: Lots happening at Lakeville Senior Center

LAKEVILLE — The Lakeville Senior Center, 1 Dear Crossing, is hosting a series of events in September.

Coping with Grief and Loss will be presented at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14. The group offers support and connection that comes with being with people who have also experienced loss. Sign-ups are appreciated but walk-ins are always welcome.

There will be a brain builder class at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14. Through education and practice, participants learn tips and techniques they can use to address two major concerns of aging, memory and word-finding skills. 

Nutrition Simplified will be presented at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15. Registered dietician Ashley Whewell will discuss how to implement a realistic heart-healthy diet into one’s lifestyle.

A Fire Extinguisher Safety class will be presented at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19. The Lakeville Fire Department and the Lakeville Council on Aging. A hands-on simulation will feature a controlled fire which participants will use a fire extinguisher to put out. Sign up by calling 508-947-7224, press 1.

Berry Ink and Butter will be offered by Old Colony History Museum in Taunton at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21. Those attending will learn about the history of butter and ink and will make their own. 

Bingo will be played at noon Tuesday, Sept. 26. There will be chicken salad sandwiches with chips and prizes. Sign up by calling 508-947-7224, press 1. Fee is $5.

The Lakeville flu shot clinic will take place 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Shots will be dispensed by the Lakeville Town Nurse. Sign-ups are required. Sign up by calling 508-947-7224, press 1.
