Anita C. Cole passed away peacefully at Newfield House in Plymouth, MA on November 13, 2025.
She was born on July 3, 1930 in Middleboro, the daughter of the late Chester W. and Dorothy U. (Chamberlain) Lewis and attended local schools. She was a graduate of Middleboro High School, Class of 1948. Anita married Delwin E. Cole and remained a lifelong resident.
Anita loved all animals but had a passion for horses. She established a horse farm in the mid-1950's where she boarded, trained, competed and offered riding lessons. She touched many lives throughout her life as a horsewoman. Anita had a variety of jobs throughout her life. These included being a school bus driver for Middleboro Public Schools and a Supervisor of the Peirce Playground Public Pool.
She enjoyed music, ceramics, Red Sox baseball, dogs and traveling. She also enjoyed flying and earned her private pilot’s license.
Anita adored her family and that adoration was returned. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her sons: Martin L. Cole and his wife, Clare, Bruce M. Cole and his wife, Betsey; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on November 25, 2025 at 11 AM in the First Unitarian Church, 25 South Main Street, Middleboro.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
