Students get hot tips on fire safety

LAKEVILLE — The Mullein Hill Christian Academy eighth grade class recently got a hands-on lesson in fire safety.
The academy has a fire science class which was recently visited by Lakeville Fire Department Lieutenant Ryan Silvia to teach students about fire extinguishers.
During the class, students got hands-on experience with using a fire extinguisher to put out open and protected flames.
Rebecca Saucier, a teacher at the academy, said students took turns putting out small flames as Silvia guided them and gave advice.
“They were instructed to not turn your back on the flame in the event that it flares back up again!” Saucier wrote.
