Janice M. (West) Wilson, 82

Apr 17, 2025

Janice M. (West) Wilson, a strong, intelligent, and deeply loved woman, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025, at the age of 82 at BID Plymouth Hospital.

Born to the late George and Phyllis West, Janice was the proud daughter of a World War II veteran who was awarded the Purple Heart. She was also the big sister of the beautiful Susanne Grace, who predeceased her.

Jan spent time in both Massachusetts and on a farm in Illinois, where she raised her daughter, Sharon and her late son, Ted Wilson.

Janice possessed a brilliant mind and an unmatched curiosity. She had a gift for storytelling and was incredibly witty; always ready with a sharp observation or a surprising fact. She continued to share stories, humor, and insights right up until her final days.

Jan enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She danced through her early years, taking pride in her graceful form and precise technique. Her natural rhythm and musicality manifested in her ability to play nearly any string instrument she picked up. Jan’s captivating oil paintings allowed her to express and share the awe-inspiring world around her. She also learned to stretch her own canvasses and frame her exquisite works of art, which were sold throughout Illinois and Massachusetts.

Jan never let anything stop her from expanding her horizons. She always wanted to learn and do more — from mastering the art of cooking international cuisines to learning scrimshaw or chair caning, she devoured knowledge. At various points in the 70s, she drove a taxi, a fork lift, a motorboat, a tractor, and obtained her motorcycle license. She was motivated by a tenacity to learn and passed these gifts onto her family.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Sharon Einstein and son-in-law, George Sebilian of Bridgewater; her granddaughters Bethanny Millett and Desiree Millett; her nephews, James Grace and Jeffrey Grace, her niece, Michelle Lyons; as well as great nieces and nephews. Her family was her pride and joy.

Jan’s beloved daughter, Sharon cared for and doted on her to ensure her life was filled with love, laughter, beauty, and warmth. Her devoted son-in-law, George always met Jan with an endless supply of humor and grace.

Janice was also deeply loved and cared for by Naomi Williams, whose care, companionship, and support meant so much to Jan and the family. Janice spent many hours making lasting memories creating art with Sharon, George, and Naomi.

Janice held a strong desire to contribute to Alzheimer’s research and her final wish was to donate her body for medical education and research.

Janice will be remembered for her strength, humor, artistic gifts, and the love she gave to those closest to her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.

The family will honor Janice’s life privately, and no public services are planned at this time.
