Residential open burning season begins Jan. 15 in Lakeville and Middleboro.

In Lakeville, those who have held permits previously should receive an email with an invitation to renew the existing permit. New permit applications can be created by visiting https://lakevillema.portal.opengov.com/categories/1082/record-types/1006453.

A $10 application fee may be made online or by check at the Fire Station. No cash payments will be accepted.

Middleboro residents can begin by logging in to the department’s burn permit portal: Middleborough.firepermits.com. Anyone with an account set up last year should use the same email to login. New users should register.

The cost of the permit is $10. Payment should be made online with a credit or debit card or by electronic check. Contact the business office for questions and assistance in obtaining a burn permit. The business office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located on the first floor of the Central Fire Station, 125 North Main St.
