Talk explores best plantings for changing climate
MIDDLEBORO — Middleboro ecologist Breeka Li Goodlander and Plymouth County agricultural educator Meg Riley will offer a free workshop on “Climate Resilience in Your Own Landscape,” sponsored by Sustainable Middleboro, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the Middleboro Public Library.
The workshop will look at why some plants may no longer grow as well as they once did and how to make a home more resilient to floods, drought, brush fires, extreme storms, and wind.
As planning for the next growing season begins, attendees can learn which trees and plants will thrive in wetter, warmer weather in coming years and how strategies such as encouraging wild meadow or wetland areas can protect homes.
The speakers will explain what to do and what not to do to make backyards more resilient. Those attending can ask questions.
