Middleboro native Martha E. Mitchell died peacefully on May,10,2024 at 103 years of age in Gig Harbor, Washington.  Martha was born in Middleborough, MA. Feb.22, 1921 to Winfred and Edith Perkins.  She graduated from Middleboro High School and Children's Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.  Martha was a long time resident of Lakeville and an active member of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour.  She married John Mitchell,Jr. in 1943 and together they raised two daughters: Joanne Morris of Texas; and Patricia Helland of Washington.  

Martha and John purchased Egger's Furniture Company from her aunt, Blanch Egger who was the widow of the late William Egger. Upon the untimely death of John, Martha continued ownership and management of the business for a number of years until 1979 when the business was sold to current owner, Robert Saquet.  Following retirement, she moved to the state of Washington, but Middleboro and Lakeville were always considered to be "home."

Martha's life journey is one of longevity with many blessings.  Martha was a kind person with a smile for all.  She had a great spirit for life and enjoyed the company of family and friends, learning, and seeing new things.  Martha touched many lives in a positive way and in return she felt blessed for those that touched her life.
