Terrific turnout at trunk or treat
LAKEVILLE – On Sunday, Oct. 22, Lakeville residents gathered in a parking lot at Ted Williams Camp for a trunk or treat Halloween celebration. Children dressed up in costumes and walked between parked cars, which had Halloween themed decorations, and collected candy.
“It was a lot more people than I expected,” said Marc Turcotte, who was distributing candy from a Halloween themed car trunk. “It’s the first time I’ve done something like this, but it’s been a lot of fun.
Mike Myers, who works at the Lakeville Transfer Station, decorated a vehicle from the station and brought it to the event. “My supervisor… let us put this on,” Myers said. “It’s a haunted graveyard.”
One of the highlights of the event was seeing the different costumes. Ella Hirst said that she and other students from the Kalia Karr Studio Of Dance dressed up in farm related costumes. “It’s been great,” she said of the trunk or treat event.
One group of trunk or treaters dressed up in Harry Potter themed costumes. We’ve “read all the books [and] seen all the movies,” Amelia Hoard said. “We even have the prequels, sequels, all of that. We have a Harry Potter cooking book. We have everything.”
The Lakeville Lions distributed popcorn and juice at the event, and had a carnival style wheel that kids could spin to determine if they would get a “trick” or a “treat.”
“It’s great to see the kids,” Lakeville Lions member Bob Wilson said. “We’re having a great time.”
