Middleboro filled with Pride at second annual celebration

MIDDLEBORO — You can’t have a rainbow without a little rain.

So it seemed fitting that smiles and energy filled Town Hall lawn June 24 even as people at times had to dodge the precipitation.

Rainbows were common sights at the second annual Pride Fest, on T-shirts, vendor booths and signs.

The event was a success, co-organizer Sascha Mules-O'Roak said, even though the steadier rain earlier in the day brought some concern.

As the day went on and the skies brightened, she said she saw “more and more people. It’s turning out to be a great day.’’

The day’s festivities included food, music, vendors and strolling drag queens.

For co-organizer Arthur Battistini, the festival served as an event to unite the community.

“The rain stopped just in time,’’ he said.

And the sense of camaraderie continued, he said.

He hopes the festival will serve as a vehicle for “getting more people involved in town.’’

Alexis Provonche gave the event high marks. “It’s really fun,’’ she said. “It’s a great way to make new friends.’’
