REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS

The Middleborough Gas and Electric Department requests qualifications from Architecture firms to provide Design Services, in accordance with the Designer Selection Procedures of the Department, for the design of a new Customer Service and Electric Operations Building at 37 Wareham Street, Middleborough, MA. The project is to complete the Schematic Design Phase for the new building, which will incorporate portions of the existing historic structure. Upon acceptance of the Schematic Design Phase, the Designer may be authorized for complete Design Services. Qualifications and proposals are sought from Architecture firms who have worked on projects of similar scope, complexity, schedule, and budget, specifically the adaptive reuse of historic buildings. A Construction Management firm may be procured following the selection of a Designer, utilizing MGL Ch. 149A, CM at Risk. The estimated cost of the new building is $10-15 million. The schematic design phase is expected to be completed within three months of Notice to Proceed. The RFQ will be available on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, and may be obtained by sending an email to bids@mged.com. A briefing will be held at the current Electric Operations Building at 37 Wareham Street, Middleborough, MA on Tuesday, January 19, 2023, at 10:00 AM; participation is strongly encouraged. Qualifications statements are due no later than 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 1, 2023, and shall be delivered to MGED at 32 South Main Street, Middleborough, MA 02346; refer to the RFQ for additional information regarding the submission requirements.
