Vintage wheels hit the road

MIDDLEBORO – Robert Norvish’s hobby has taken him across the Northeast. From Maine to Boston, the Middleboro resident has traveled to display his vintage wheels.

Norvish was invited to display his 1904 Model T in front of Northeastern University on Tuesday, Oct. 3. Norvish’s display was part of the school’s 125th anniversary event.

According to Norvish, in the early 1900s Northeastern students worked on Model T cars in automotive classes.

Model T cars were produced by Ford from 1908 to 1927 according to Norvish.

“They are very reliable cars,” he said.

Norvish’s model, which he has owned for about 10 years, is still “up and running.”

In order to keep the 119-year-old vehicle in working condition, Norvish has done a number of repairs including replacing the engine with a newer model.

“There's always stuff you always tinker around with these things,” he said.

Although Norvish said the Model T isn’t his everyday car, he said he enjoys taking his family on rides to Rochester and participating in parades with the Old Colony Model T Club.
