Veterans honor guard seeks members

Sep 13, 2022

MIDDLEBORO — New members are being recruited for the Middleboro Veterans Honor Guard.

Honor guard members may serve a variety of duties, including folding and presenting the American flag at the burials of veterans; holding the American flag or a flag representing a specific branch of the military at the services or serving on the rifle salute team.

Honor guard members are not required to attend every event; the schedule is flexible. Graveside services are generally only held from March through October because of weather conditions.

The guard attends fewer than 20 ceremonies per year.

Veterans from any community are welcome to join the guard. Members are welcome, whether they served in active duty or as a member of the National Guard or Reserve components.

Training will be provided. Members of the honor guard must provide their own pants and shirts, but other parts of the uniform will be provided.

Anyone interested in joining the group should contact Paul Provencher by phone or text at (508) 947-5941.
