Two May events to provide support for Sacred Heart Food Pantry
MIDDLEBORO — While The Sacred Heart Food Pantry in Middleboro accepts donations of non-perishable foods any time that the pantry is open, May presents two special opportunities to donate.
On Saturday, May 13, postal workers will be holding their annual “Stamp Out Hunger” drive. To participate, residents should put a bag of groceries at their mailbox. Postal employees will pick up the bags and distribute them to local food pantries, including Sacred Heart.
On Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27, volunteers from the Sacred Heart Pantry will be at the doors of the Shaw’s Supermarket in Carver asking shoppers to pick up any extra items they can and donate them.
Thanks to the Cranberry Country Chamber of Commerce’s recent electronics disposal drive, more than 1,500 pounds of food were donated to Sacred Heart’s Food Pantry. Residents of Middleboro, Lakeville, Carver and Rochester are eligible to use the pantry.
Anyone experiencing food insecurity should contact the pantry for help by calling 508-947-1717; choose option 2 and leave a message. A volunteer will return the call as soon as possible.
