Two classes to demonstrate how to save on winter utility bills
Event Date
MIDDLEBORO — Town residents can attend two free workshops to learn how to winterize their home as temperatures drop.
Sustainable Middleboro, a local nonprofit, will hold heating bill savings classes on two days this fall. Many homes lose up to 45% of their heat through air leakage, so learning to seal these leaks can result in significant savings.
Kimberly French, the group’s president, and Matt Perry, a local insulation contractor, will present no- and low-cost ways to lower heating bills Oct. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the Council on Aging. Seniors who attend can also register for a beef stroganoff lunch following the presentation for $5.
Hayden Kane, one of the organization’s weatherization navigators, will present money- and energy-saving strategies to attendees Nov. 8 at 11:30 at the Sacred Heart Food pantry at 53 Oak St.
These workshops are free and open to the public, and Council on Aging and food pantry beneficiaries can receive free air-sealing materials donated by JM of New Bedford and the nonprofit.
