Trunk or Treat in Lakeville scares up hundreds of youngsters
LAKEVILLE -- Some were police officers, letter carriers, and even a slice of pizza. Plenty were Spiderman, Paw Patrol and Power Rangers.
They sported different looks, but the costumed characters at the Lakeville Trunk or Treat at Ted Williams Camp Oct. 25 had a common destination: The more than 40 car trunks filled with candy.
Trunk or treats have become popular alternatives _ or additions _ to the traditional door-to-door request for treats.
At the Lakeville event, held under pitch-perfect October skies, well over 500 children made the rounds to visit the various trunks and grab a treat.
The Lakeville Parks Department, which sponsors the event, decided to expand the camp’s offerings beyond the traditional sports by hosting the trunk or treat, Park Commissioner Melissa Turcotte said.
Next year will mark the fifth annual event.
The day allows community organizations and businesses to introduce themselves to residents, Turcotte said.
Both participants and the children find the day’s activities a treat, she said.
“Who doesn’t like to see the kids in their costumes?’’ she said.
