Katherine A. (Sheridan) Long
Katherine A. (Sheridan) Long of Middleboro and formerly of Milton, died peacefully surrounded by love and prayers on October 18, 2026. She was pre-deceased by the love of her life, James F. Long.
Loving and devoted mother to daughter, Eleanor Hurley and her husband Michael of Middleboro, Mary E. Long, Marcus F. Long, Jean M. Long, Cassandra Jean Long and the late Michael S. and Daniel J. Long.
Beloved daughter of the late John J. Sheridan and Helen L. (Dyresen) Sheridan. Loving sister of Helen Murphy, Agnes Franklin, Jean Daniels, Patricia McLellan, Marion Klish, the late Paul Sheridan and Marie Blanchard. Also survived by many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families.
A former nurses aide, Kay aspired to be a nurse until the untimely death of her husband, Jim. Raising a large family on her own, she settled in Middleboro where she started an unlikely second career as a newspaper carrier for The Enterprise. She loved this job and her customers became her friends.
Her faith was the root of who she was. Kay had lost her faith after the loss of her husband, but it was reignited over the last 5-6 years. It became the fabric of her being and Jesus was the center of her life.
She watched televised Mass daily, prayed the rosary and looked forward to receiving the Eucharist and a visit weekly from Judith West, a dear family friend. She loved to watch game and home improvement shows.
Kay LOVED her Shaw Home family and that love was returned. The nurses and the aides were her special family. They know who they are. She enjoyed the Activity Department where she loved getting her nails done and playing Bingo!
