Town honors Middleboro’s heroes
MIDDLEBORO — Many Middleboro streets are now lined with star-spangled banners.
The hanging banners feature images of genuine stars of the community: Veterans who have served in the military, from the Revolutionary War to today.
The Revolutionary War soldiers received a special place of honor this year at the Memorial Park next to Town Hall, Middleboro Veterans Service Officer Steve Adelman said.
The banners were placed this year Saturday, May 17 by community volunteers and organizations, including The Middleboro Rotary Club and Beantown Home Improvement.
Adelman thanked all those who helped, including State Sen. Kelly Dooner and members of the Middleboro Select Board.
This is the third year that Middleboro has participated in the Hometown Heroes program. Hanging the banners once took the better part of a day. Now, with experience, volunteers completed the effort in about an hour, Adelman said.
