A touch of Hawaii comes to Lakeville in library exhibit
LAKEVILLE — Say aloha to Hawaii-inspired artwork in August and September when Lakeville native and fine art landscape photographer Jacquelin Medeiros will exhibit her art at the Great Ponds Gallery of Lakeville Library.
The exhibition, “New England And Hawaiian Landscapes,’’ features photographs of landscapes in natural settings, many involving water.
Medeiros’ development and education as a photographer has happened in various ways over many years. In high school, her art teacher taught her to develop and print photographs. In later years she would study with her mentor and teacher, Scott Reither, an award-winning fine art landscape photographer from Maui, Hawaii.
She has always, out of pure enjoyment, studied the paintings of the great masters. This has resulted in a strength of seeing composition very quickly when out in the field.
Her work has been recognized and awarded in international competitions. She hopes her images connect the viewer with the ethereal, tranquil beauty found in remote natural landscapes.
A reception will be held Saturday, Aug. 5 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The exhibit will be open to the public through Sept. 30.
The Lakeville Public Library is open from 10 am to 8 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays; 10 am to 6 pm on Wednesdays; and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturdays. It is closed Sundays and Fridays. For more information, e-mail greatpondsgallery@hotmail.com.
