Stuff the cruiser fills pantry, soul

Dec 10, 2022

LAKEVILLE — The community stuffed a Lakeville Police cruiser with food items Saturday, Dec. 10 to help hungry residents fill their plates.

The drive began at 10 a.m. in the station parking lot, but donors were already in the parking lot at 9:45 a.m. ready to donate, said Kristen Campbell, administrative assistant to Lakeville Police Chief Matthew Perkins.

“People were also here during the week dropping things off,’’ she said.

The cruiser was filled several times before noontime, said Lakeville Police Capt. Sean Joyce. Department employees cleared the cruiser to make room for more, he said.

“The response has been overwhelming,’’ he said.

Donations were also made by employees of the police department, Campbell said.

The items collected will be presented to the Lakeville Senior Center for their food pantry.

The effort, which ran through 2 p.m., was a chance for “the community to support the seniors in town,’’ Campbell said.
