St. Isidore Parish announces holy week and Easter Mass schedule
Father Jude Thaddeus Osunkwo, pastor of St. Isidore Parish, has announced the schedule for Holy Week, the Triduum liturgies, and Easter Sunday Masses. St. Isidore Parish consists of three worship sites: Sts. Martha and Mary Church in Lakeville, Sacred Heart Church in Middleboro and St. Rose of Lima Church in Rochester.
Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday. Masses will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church at the usual 4:00 p.m. Mass on Saturday, April 12, and at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 13. At Sts. Martha and Mary Church, the usual 7:30 a.m. Sunday Mass will be suspended so that all may gather for the 9:30 a.m. Mass. At St. Rose of Lima Church, the usual 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass will be observed.
This year, the three services of the Triduum will be held at Sts. Martha and Mary Church. On Holy Thursday, April 17, the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper will begin at 7:00 p.m. During this Mass, following the Liturgy of the Word, the Rite of the Washing of Feet (Mandatum) will take place, where several parishioners will have their feet washed by the celebrant, reflecting the actions of Jesus washing the feet of his twelve disciples. The Sts. Martha and Mary adult choir, under the direction of Henry Rondelli with Jimmy Dolan as organist, will provide the music. After Mass, attendees are invited to remain until 10:00 p.m. to spend time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.
On Good Friday, April 18, the Celebration of the Lord’s Passion will take place at 3:00 p.m. This service includes the Liturgy of the Word, Adoration of the Holy Cross and Holy Communion. Several members of the Sts. Martha and Mary adult choir will provide the music, including the hymn "We Acclaim the Cross of Jesus."
The Easter Vigil will begin on Holy Saturday, April 19, at 8:00 p.m. This Mass, considered the greatest and most noble of all solemnities in the Roman Catholic Church, celebrates the Resurrection of Christ and anticipates His return in glory. The service includes the Solemn Beginning of the Vigil (Service of Light), the Easter Proclamation (Exsultet), the Liturgy of the Word, Baptismal Liturgy and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. The Sts. Martha and Mary choir, under Mr. Rondelli’s direction and with Jimmy Dolan as accompanist, will lead the music. Music will also be enhanced by John Rondelli on trumpet, Evan Case on violin, Jo-Ann Jablonski on flute and Nick Clayton on cello.
On Easter Sunday, April 20, there will be three Masses celebrated at each worship site. At 9:00 a.m., Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church in Rochester, with Jack Roussell, music coordinator, and the St. Rose choir leading the music. The usual 7:30 a.m. Mass at Sts. Martha and Mary Church will be suspended, and Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at Sts. Martha and Mary Church, Lakeville, with the adult and youth choirs joining to sing, accompanied by trumpet, violin and flute. The final Easter Sunday Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Middleboro at 11:00 a.m. The Sacred Heart Choir, under the direction of Zeke Lewis, music coordinator, and Jimmy Dolan, accompanist, will lead the music.
Area residents are invited to attend any of the Masses scheduled for Palm Sunday, the Triduum liturgies at Sts. Martha and Mary Church, and the Easter Sunday Masses at any of the three churches of St. Isidore Parish: Sacred Heart Church, Sts. Martha and Mary Church and St. Rose of Lima Church.
