Rosemarie Garrick Miles, 75

Dec 16, 2023

Rosemarie Garrick Miles, 75, passed away peacefully on December 14 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Boston on August 3, 1948, Rosemarie Katherine Garrick was the eldest of six children to Rosemarie (McCarthy), and Daniel Garrick was raised primarily in Stoughton. Known as a particularly thoughtful individual since adolescence, “Ro,” as she was known to friends and family, was a bright student who graduated second in her class from Saint Elizabeth’s School of Nursing in 1969.

Ro was a highly accomplished registered nurse for forty-two years. In 1978, she was hired at Morton Hospital in Taunton, and spent the majority of her career as a nursing supervisor, where she left life-long impressions on not just her patients and their loved ones but the numerous young nurses who considered her a mentor.

Despite a hectic work schedule, Ro maintained her thoughtful and caring nature in her spare time; she kept a stationery box since high school, and never forgot to send cards of sympathy or thanks. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at Old Silver Beach in Cape Cod. She loved to visit Boston, where she’d shop at bookstores, and attend figure skating shows and musicals. Ro was also a St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing Alumni Association member.

Predeceased by her beloved son, Kevin, who passed in 2017, Ro is survived by her husband of fifty years, Edward J. Miles, of Middleboro; daughter Kathleen “Kate” Miles, her fiancé, Luke Park, of Brighton, and was “Nana” to Kiera Rosemarie Park. Ro was the sister of Judith Fallon of Stoughton, Barbara Passanisi of Easton, Donald Garrick of Raynham, Darlene Gareri of East Bridgewater and the late Daniel W. Garrick, Jr. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 19, at Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street, Stoughton, from 4pm-7pm. A funeral mass will take place Wednesday, December 20, at Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street, Stoughton, at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452. Ro was also a devoted dog owner, and donations in her honor can be made to PAWS New England, PO Box 542, Ashland, MA 01721.
