MIDDLEBOROUGH - Ronald (Ron) Gerard Bouchard, of Middleborough, passed away at age 83, on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at his home.
He was born in Fall River on September 16, 1940, to the late Gerard & Margaret (Parent) Bouchard. Ron was raised in Fall River and attended the Saint Patrick and Saint Mary elementary schools and is a 1958 graduate of BMC Durfee High School in Fall River. He is a graduate of Roger Williams University, Class of 1973 with an Associate's Degree in Engineering and Class of 1976 with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering Technology. Ron was married in 1959 to Annette Therese Gauthier also of Fall River. In addition to Fall River, Ron also resided in Klamath Falls, Oregon, Mansfield and settled in Middleborough.
Ron was employed for 16 years as a Manufacturing and Environmental Test Engineer with the Precision Products Division of Northrop Corporation, now Northrop Grumman, located in Norwood. The remainder of his career, about 23 years, Ron was with what is now Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control in Orlando, Florida, functioning as Chief Supplier Source Quality Engineer for the Northeast US and Canada. He retired in 2002, at the age of 62.
He served his country and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force, serving as an Aircraft Instrument Mechanic with the 322nd Fighter Interceptor Squadron and the 408th Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Oregon. He also served in the Active Naval Reserve at the South Weymouth Naval Air Station. Ron served with the Patrol Squadron VP 92 as an Aircraft Electrician and as a Flight Engineer aboard the P3 Orion Anti Submarine Patrol Aircraft located there. Ron was an FAA Certified Private Pilot and Advanced Ground School Instructor. He taught ground school and flew out of the Mansfield Airport. He was a past member of the PACCA flying club based at the Mansfield Airport.
In addition to flying, Ron enjoyed golf, bicycling, boating, clamming, canoeing, kayaking, and especially motorcycling with his sons. His love for his family was immeasurable; he will be missed.
Ron was the beloved husband for almost 65 years to Annette (Gauthier) Bouchard; loving father of Elaine Kain of Middleborough, Michael Bouchard & his wife Kim of North Attleborough, David Bouchard & his wife Laura of Taunton, Jeffrey Bouchard & his wife Sherri of Mansfield, Peter Bouchard & his wife Sheila of Rehoboth, Paul Bouchard of Amesbury, Chris Bouchard & his wife Lori of Taunton and the late Renee Bouchard; cherished grandfather of 23 and great-grandfather of 19; dear brother of Geraldine Kempf & her husband Gerard of Port Saint Lucie, Florida. He is also survived by Annette's siblings, their spouses and many nieces and nephews.
