Robert “Bob” Young, 83
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Robert “Bob” Young of Middleborough, who departed this life on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the age of 83.
Born on February 14, 1942, in Easthampton, MA, Bob was affectionately known as his mom’s “little Valentine.” He grew up surrounded by a large and loving family, where warmth and humor were woven into everyday life. Bob found immense joy in spending time with his family, often delighting in their company and sharing laughter through playful practical jokes. As Alzheimer’s progressed, Bob’s thoughts frequently drifted back to his cherished childhood home in Easthampton, and the adventures and laughs he shared with his friends and siblings.
Throughout his life, Bob was known for his strong work ethic and took the most pride in his profession as a house painter, where his attention to detail was able to shine. Bob was also a talented woodworker, using his skills to craft numerous pieces of furniture that filled their home.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Cynthia (née Rogers) Young. He leaves behind his son, Stephen Young of Orlando, FL, and his daughter, Julie Bertsch of Framingham along with her husband, John. Bob’s legacy continues through his beloved granddaughter, Evie Bertsch, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his sisters, Bonnie Young, Connie Rogers and brothers, Michael Young and Richard Young as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Gloria (Lapan) & Donald Young, as well as his siblings, Donna Poulin, Edward Young, William Young, and Sylvia Mohr. Bob is now reunited with his faithful companion, Lucky, who is surely seeking many heavenly walks as he did in life.
Family and friends are welcome to the visitation at the Ashley~Drolette Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service starting at 11:00 AM.
Interment services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Bob’s smile and laughter will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in peace.
