Power outages in Middleboro and Lakeville are a possibility due to Tuesday’s storm, said a representative of the Middleboro Gas and Electric Department.

“Given the expected strength of this storm, power outages are possible as trees, branches or other debris come into contact with utility lines and electrical equipment,” said the representative.

“In the event of an outage, avoid opening refrigerators to keep food cold for as long as possible. Turn off and unplug major electronics to avoid damage once power is restored. Use a flashlight instead of candles which can pose fire risks. Our crews will work around the clock to restore power safely and efficiently to all impacted customers. Residents with serious health conditions requiring specialized medical electric equipment should identify one or two possible alternate locations that may have power where you can go during an outage.
