Poetry meets visual art at Middleboro gallery
Event Date:
MIDDLEBORO — Visual and written work exploring the interplay of poetry and art will be on display at True Grit Art Gallery’s 2025 run of Poetic Visions.
The gallery, located at 38 Center St., will open the exhibit with a reception and poetry reading Sept. 13 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This event will feature live readings of five poems by their authors, a chance to view 60 visual art pieces inspired by them and complementary adult refreshments.
In preparation for the exhibit, the gallery invited poets across southern New England to submit up to three poems with illustrative and metaphorical language. Five poems out of over 140 submissions were selected for the show. Each visual artist was then assigned one of these poems to use as inspiration.
Poetic Visions will run from its opening reception through Sept. 27, ending with a closing reception from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. All poets who submitted work for the exhibit are invited to share their piece at this concluding event.
More information can be found on the gallery’s website.
