Berry fun festival to return to Middleboro

MIDDLEBORO — Cranberry lovers of all ages can enjoy berry-themed competitions along with food, drinks, games and activities at Cranberryfest.
The Middleboro Tourism Committee will host the festival Oct. 11 from noon to 4 p.m. on the Middleboro Town Hall lawn.
Three competitions are scheduled throughout the day, beginning in the afternoon. At 1 p.m. professional and home bakers can enter a bake-off. First, second and third-place winners will receive a gift card to Hannaford’s grocery.
At 2 p.m. contestants in the Miss Crantoberfest contest will answer questions about the cranberry industry. The winner will be given a cranberry-colored crown and sash, and serve as a committee representativefor the year.
The annual costume parade will begin at 3 p.m., led by a group of alpacas. There will be prizes for children 8 and younger, and for individuals aged 9 and above.
A new addition to this year’s festival is the Massachusetts traveling cranberry bog, a display educating viewers on how cranberries are farmed.
