LAKEVILLE — Outgoing town administrator Ari Sky, who resigned to take a new job in Watertown later in January, took time during the Jan. 8 Lakeville Select Board meeting to praise the town employees and reflect on his nearly three years in Lakeville.

“Lakeville is a very special place and a unique community,” Sky said. “I’m especially appreciative of our tremendous staff, who bring their very best to the town on a daily basis.”

The Monday, Jan. 8 select board meeting was the last select board meeting that Sky would attend before starting work in Watertown as the town’s Chief Financial Officer.

Sky also said that in his view, Lakeville lacks a “common vision.”

“Ours is a time of change and uncertainty, and the lack of a common vision significantly impacts the ability of the town to move forward with a sense of collective confidence and determination,” Sky said. “My greatest regret is that we were unable to inspire the community by demonstrating a commitment to a common cause.”

“Sadly, the ability to listen often seems like a lost art,” he said.

Select Board Chair Brian Day thanked Sky for his service to Lakeville.

“Thank you Ari, and it is sad that tonight is your last regularly scheduled meeting with us,” Day said. “I thank you for your time and all that you were able to accomplish, and I wish you the best in your new role.”
