Opinion: Senior center new name better reflects identity

To the Editor:

The Lakeville Council on Aging, or Lakeville Senior Center, has been proud to serve older adults in our community, and I am excited to share that moving forward, we will be known as “Lakeville Center for Active Living.”

Based on industry research, feedback from members and the older adult community, Lakeville Center for Active Living better reflects who we are and who we strive to be, with energy, connection, and positivity. With this change, all of us at Lakeville Center for Active Living hope to bring a renewed sense of belonging and a warm, welcoming feeling to all.

Whether you walk in or roll in, someone visits for the first time, or comes daily, weekly, or monthly, all our friends are taking an active role in making their lives better. From providing exercise classes, educational programs, one-time assistance, or ongoing services, Lakeville Center for Active Living is here and excited to help support our older adult community to take that active step and get out there and live well.

As our new name suggests, all of us at Lakeville Center for Active Living encourage everyone to “Live Well, Age Well” and look forward to starting this next chapter with you.
