Mum’s the word as Lions Club members provide fall colors

Sep 26, 2022

LAKEVILLE — Members of the Lakeville Lions Club added some fall colors to the town’s traffic islands during their beautification effort Saturday, Sept. 24.

Fifty mums were planted at four islands at the intersection of routes 18 and 105. Club members return there three times a year to weed, mulch, care for perennials and plant mums.

The beautification project began eight years ago by Lions Club member Mark Dube.

Club members offered special thanks to residents Mary Anne Ashley and Corinne Proctor for stopping by to provide coffee, doughnuts and water. Lakeville True Value Hardware also provided support for the effort, club members said.

The effort reflects the Lions Club motto, “We Serve.’’
