MIDDLEBORO — A kaleidoscope of butterflies will take flight Saturday as families release insects they have been caring for since last month. 

In a follow-up to its Aug. 23 event at which families received supplies to raise a caterpillar to a butterfly, the Middleboro Public Library will host a butterfly release Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to noon. 

The event will take place at 132 N. Main St., on the grounds of the Peter H. Pierce homestead. Pat Balise and Diana Hunt will host families of young children as they celebrate the release of the insects.
