Middleboro man charged with stabbing on Miller Street
MIDDLEBORO — A Middleboro man faces assault with intent to murder charges after a stabbing on Miller Street early Monday morning June 1, Middleboro Police report.
Middleboro resident Brandon Cain, 32, was charged with assault with intent to murder, five counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest.
Police were notified around 3:14 a.m. Monday that a 44-year old Middleboro man with multiple stab wounds arrived at the emergency room of Tobey Hospital in Wareham, according to a Middleboro police report.
According to police, the man had two stab wounds on his back, one on the left side of his chest, one on his left side and another on his left upper thigh. Police said that the man’s injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
The alleged stabbing occurred inside the home of the victim’s mother on Miller Street, according to the police report. The victim’s mother told police that he begged her not to call an ambulance after he was stabbed, and instead had a friend drive him to the hospital.
After interviewing the man’s family and associates in Middleboro, police determined that Cain, a “known associate” of the victim, was the primary suspect.
On Monday early afternoon, police reported that they showed up at the home they believed Cain was located in. Upon seeing a police officer, Cain ran into the bathroom, pushed an air conditioning unit out of a first-floor window and jumped out, police said. Officer Steven Avelino then tased Cain, after which he became “compliant” and was taken into custody, according to a narrative report by Avelino.
Cain also had four outstanding default warrants for his arrest on various charges, police said.
Cain was arraigned on Tuesday, June 2 in Wareham District Court and has a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Thursday, June 4.
