Middleboro honors veterans with parade, activities
MIDDLEBORO — Middleboro will honor veterans with several events on and around Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
The town will have a parade and ceremony Nov. 11. The parade will start at 10 a.m. and end its route at the Town Hall parking lot. Marching in the parade will be a Middleboro fire truck, Middleborough High School and Middle School bands, the Mayflower Lodge, Boys and Girl Scouts troops, cars from Oak Point Car Club, two antique military vehicles, military personnel and the Middleboro Honor Guard.
The parade will route will begin in the Middleboro Town Hall Parking lot. Participants will then take a right on to Union St. and a right on to Nickerson Ave. The route then turns left on South Main St. and left on Center St. to John Glass Square/Everett Square. Then turn left on to High St, and left on Pearl St. Turn right on to Center St and right on to South Main St. The parade ends by turning right on to Nickerson Ave and back to the Town Hall parking lot.
The ceremony will be in the Town Hall auditorium right after the parade ends.
Paul Kreitzberg will be Middleboro’s Veteran of the Year and Lorna Brunelle of the Burt Wood School of Performing Arts will be honored as Middleboro’s Veterans Services Organization of the Year.
Two other upcoming events are scheduled to honor veterans.
On Thursday, Nov. 14, the Council on Aging, 558 Plymouth St., will host a veterans day lunch for seniors. Veterans can attend for free, there is a $5 fee for guests. RSVP is required, call 508-946-2490.
A breakfast will be served for veterans from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, Nov. 10 at Sacred Heart Church St Isidore Parish hall, 340 Center St. The breakfast will be hosted by Boy Scouts from Troop 20.
