Mar 21, 2023

MIDDLEBORO — Town Clerk Allison Ferreira will soon begin serving as the town’s first Human Resources Director.

Her contract has been approved and her hiring was announced at the March 20 Select Board meeting.

“I’m deeply honored and humbled,’’ she said after the official announcement was made. She said that patience, kindness, empathy and active listening are keys to successful growth.

She said she looks forward to working with “a prospering community and the town’s “hard-working, dedicated employees.’’

Her work experience includes 17 years with the Town of Middleboro. She has also worked as human resources coordinator and recruitment director for several Boston law firms, she said.

Ferreira will split her time between her work as Town Clerk and in human resources through the election season, Town Manager James McGrail said. The Human Resources office is anticipated to open the first of May, he said.

McGrail said he hoped the Town Clerk job would be posted by Tuesday, March 21. He plans to bring the top candidates to select board members at the April 10 meeting.

Ferreira signed a three-year contract that runs through June 2026. She will earn $120,000 per year, with a 2 ½ percent increase each year.
