Middleboro Elks celebrate honor students, Star Spangled Banner
The Middleboro Elks took a moment to remember the symbol of our nation at its annual Flag Day service ceremony last month.
The ceremony described the history of the flag and showed all versions of the flag, to date. Afterwards, the Middleboro Elks awarded over $25,000 in town and state-level scholarships to students.
Recipients of the $13,000 Middleboro Elks Lodge scholarships included Paige Logan, Ava Morris, Abigail Ricker, Cecilia Segnatelli, Adam Wolfe, Jacob Merrill, Nora Moynihan, Amanda Cardin, Jack Kavaleski and Courtney Sollis.
A total of $16,500 in Massachusetts Elks State Scholarships were awarded to the following recipients: Jake Ambrose, Taygen Ambrose, Kayla Connolly, Jack Kavaleski, Bridget MacDougall, Ava Morris, Nora Moynihan, Michael Oatism, Natalia Parkinson, Paige Rooney, Madison Ryder, Adam Wolfe and Megan Kavaleski.
The Middleboro Elks also presented awards to members who were state finalists in the annual Americanism essay contest. Second and third-place finalists included fifth grader Kacey Bachoo, seventh grader John Farese and eighth grader Linsey Rahwan.
The theme for next year’s Americanism contest, open to all kids in fifth through eighth grade is “What Does Patriotism Mean to Me”.
