MIDDLEBORO — The Middleboro Cultural Council distributed $19,000 worth of grants to various artistic and cultural projects that will benefit Middleboro residents, said Kevin “Quack” Quackenbush, a member of the council.

Quackenbush explained that the council distributes money that is allocated to it by the state of Massachusetts, and that this year the council had to choose between over 40 grant applications. “It’s a testament to the richness of our cultural landscape that we have such a wealth of innovative programs seeking support,” Quackenbush said.

The council is also looking for new members to replace the members who are currently leaving the council, Quackenbush said. Middleboro residents who wish to serve on the council must be appointed by the Middleboro Select Board.
