Man arrested for trafficking fentanyl after rollover crash in Middleboro
MIDDLEBORO — A Boston man was arrested and charged for trafficking and possession of what police believe to be fentanyl and Cocaine after he and another person were involved in a rollover car crash on 495 southbound in Middleboro the morning of Thursday, Aug. 15.
State Troopers brought in a police dog to inspect the vehicle involved in the crash after discovering that the driver, 25-year-old Djosue Dossantos of Boston, and his 17-year-old companion were unharmed in the accident and neither had been ejected from the car as reports suggested.
The discovery of a large bundle of cash in the vehicle, as well inconsistencies in the stories provided by the vehicle’s occupants as to how the crash occurred led law enforcement officials to bring in the police dog to search the vehicle and surrounding area for drugs, police stated.
The dog found a plastic bag with small bundles of substances suspected to be fentanyl and Crack Cocaine in the woods near the site of the crash, according to officers.
In total, approximately 38 grams of Fentanyl and 14 grams of Crack Cocaine were seized.
Dossantos was placed under arrest and brought to the Middleboro State Police Barracks for booking. Police also discovered he was driving though his right to operate a vehicle in Massachusetts had been revoked.
The minor accompanying Dossantos was released into parental custody and will be summonsed to court for criminal charges at a later date, police stated.
Dossantos appeared at Wareham District Court where he was arraigned on the following charges: trafficking Fentanyl, possession of Cocaine with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug law and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
