Leopold (Leo) Rousseau, 92, of Lakeville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 29,

2024, at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of the late Claire (Levesque) Rousseau to whom he spent 65 years of marriage. Leo and Claire met on Memorial Day weekend in 1955 at Lincoln Park Ballroom and married on August 18, 1956. Born in Fall River, on Friday, February 19, 1932, the eldest of six and the son of the late Leo and Dorina (Talbot) Rousseau. Leo graduated from Prevost High School in 1950. He was a resident of Lakeville Massachusetts where he established Rousseau’s RV in 1976 at his home and expanded to the current dealership in 1982 as he followed his passion for camping. Before that, he was a supervisor with the New England Telephone Company for 30 years (Verizon) where he retired in 1985. Leo served his country as a member of the United States Army in 1952 and the Army Reserve until he was Honorably Discharged in February 1961. He is a Veteran of the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. Leo spent many years with the Lakeville Lions and served as their president. He left his mark by helping establish the current Lion’s Eye Mobile which provides free testing for vision, blood pressure screening, and hearing acuity screens. Leo spent many years residing in Florida in the winter months where he enjoyed family and friends playing bocce and enjoyed spending time with the men at the Liar’s Club.

He is survived by his two sons, Michael Rousseau and his wife Anna, and David Rousseau and his wife Sheila; His grandchildren Christopher and his fiancé Sheila, Mathew and his wife Tori, Brandon, Nicholas and his wife Amanda, and Felicia “Rousseau” Candella and her husband David; Great grandchildren Scarlet and Summer Rousseau, Noelle Rousseau, and Colson Candella; extended family Theresa Pawlendzio and children, and Stephanie Cannon and children. His siblings are the late Robert Rousseau and his wife Elise, Norman Rousseau and his wife Elaine, Gerald Rousseau and his partner Jennie, Richard Rousseau and his wife Kathy, and Anita “Rousseau” Pelissier and her husband Raymond. Sister-in-law Pauline Cyr and her husband Raymond, and late Sister-in-law Louise Tavares and her husband Robert. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours for Leo will be held on Thursday, June 6th from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home 280 Bedford Street, Lakeville, MA 02347. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 7th, at 10 am at Sts. Martha & Mary Catholic Church, 354 Bedford St. Lakeville MA 02347. Leo will be laid to rest in St Mary’s Cemetery in Middleboro following the funeral mass.
