Lakeville Lions Club welcomes new president

Jul 12, 2024

LAKEVILLE — The Lakeville Lions now have a new leader.

The former Lion’s club president Patrick Marshall passed the baton off to Bob Wilson at the club’s membership meeting in June. During the meeting, the Lakeville Lions inducted their new officers for the 2024-2025 year and member Gordon Goodfellow was recognized for his efforts.

Goodfellow was given the "Lion of the Year" award by Marshall for his tireless service as club secretary and for all the work he does for the community.

The meeting was a review of the past year and Marshall stated he was proud of all that members accomplished.

This year the club conducted numerous community projects and donated over $14,000 to various local, state and Lion’s charities, which include the Mass Eye Research Fund, The Lions International Club Fund and the Sacred Heart Food Pantry.

This was the second highest amount the club has given in at least seven years.

The club also ran several successful fundraisers this year, including the annual fall family festival last September, the golf tournament in June and the comedy show in February.

The club's monthly CPR courses this year certified 37 individuals.

New members are always welcome. The club will begin meeting again in September on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the club house on Main Street.  The Lion's motto is "We Serve" and the Lakeville Lions look forward to another great year of service to the Lakeville community.
