Lakers finish spring season with conference titles and MVP honors

LAKEVILLE — Apponequet finished out the spring with no shortage of athletic successes, with five teams racking up South Coast Conference titles and six making it to the MIAA Division 3 championships. 

Additionally, five student athletes were named South Coast Conference MVPS. 

Baseball, softball, boys tennis, boys lacrosse and girls lacrosse brought home conference titles. Each of those teams had a solid run in the playoffs, with baseball and softball making it to the semifinals and boys tennis to the quarter finals.  

While girls tennis did not earn a conference title, the team made it to the Round of 16 in the state tournament. 

“Our Laker community is very proud of the successful spring athletic season we enjoyed, “ said Lakers Athletic Director James Cabucio. 

“To achieve five South Coast Conference championships in our spring season with five of our student athletes being recognized as Conference MVPs of their respective sports is a tremendous tribute to the hard work of our players, coaches and our youth programs,” he said. 

Lakers baseball seniors Nathan Levesque, Dylan Bradley and Caiden Cyr were named SCC All-Stars.

On the softball team, senior Lauren Bernaiche was named the SCC MVP while senior Eva Zuber and junior Christina Magnett earned a spot on the All-Star team. 

For boys tennis, SCC MVP honors were given to Junior Will Horton while seniors Nate Belmore and Ethan Clark and junior Ryan Abreau were named All-Stars. 

In boys lacrosse, senior Ken Wisniewski was named SCC MVP while seniors Jake Cusson and Kevin O’Connor and junior Will Levrault received All-Star honors. 

Girls lacrosse sophomore Cece Levrault was awarded MVP honors for her performance while juniors Abby Bradley and Jayleigh Howarth were named All-Stars.

All-Stars honors for girls tennis were given to Juniors Kohana Fontinha, Jolie Decas and Brynn McLaughlin as well as sophomore Lila Nielsen.

Morgan Hayward was named conference MVP for girls track.
