Kathaleen A. Arruda

MIDDLEBOROUGH  — Kathaleen A. Arruda, a longtime resident of Middleboro, formerly of Tiverton, Rhode Island, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at the South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth.

She was born in Fall River to Manuel and Elainer Arruda. Kathaleen met her husband, Jose P. Arruda on her family farm and thus began a life together building a successful dairy farm business.  She was committed to her Catholic faith, volunteering and teaching CCD classes for decades in Middleboro. Kathaleen was well known for her commitment to her community, volunteering at the Saint Vincent de Paul Food Pantry in Middleborough, cooking her famous chicken chow-mein dish for fundraisers and helping those who needed a hand up.  She was a talented craftsperson; her sewing, quilting and ceramics brought joy to all who were gifted with her work.  Kathaleen was the epitome of a good neighbor, reliable friend and dedicated mother and wife.  

Kathaleen is survived by her husband Jose P. Arruda; children Joseph Arruda (spouse Ashley), David Arruda (spouse Nicole) and Rose Arruda; siblings Jo-Ann DuPonte, Darryl Arruda, Karen Arruda (deceased) and Joseph Arruda (deceased); grandchildren Jocelyn Arruda, Liana Arruda, Caroline Arruda and Luke Arruda, and great-grandson Nicholas Mitchell, as well countless cousins and other members of her extended family.

Family and friends are welcome to the visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleboro, on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 PM.

All are invited to Kathaleen's funeral Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 14 Saint Mary's Square,  Taunton, on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 10:00 AM.  Parking available in the church lot located on Washington Street.

Interment will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Wood Street, Middleboro.

The family asks that donations in Kathaleen's name be made to The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, P.O. Box 1381, Middleboro, MA 02346-1381.
