Joan (Chenard) Edgerly, 85

Joan (Chenard) Edgerly, age 85, of Middleboro MA and Venice FL, died peacefully on September 22, 2025.  Born on December 9, 1939, in Biddeford, ME, Joan was the daughter of the late Alfred and Alma (Murphy) Chenard. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Arthur Tripp Edgerly.

Together they raised their family in Bridgewater, MA, and Middleboro MA, moving to their Middleboro lake house in 1979.  After her retirement from Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc., Joan and Arthur enjoyed a long retirement in Venice, FL during winters and came back to the lake for summers with all the family.

She is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen Ryan and her husband Gregory of Randolph, MA, and Donna Freidenfeld and her husband David of Round Rock TX.  Joan was the proud grandmother to Benjamin, Nathaniel, Margaret, Hannah, Erin, and Catherine, and spending time with them brought her immense happiness.

Joan is also survived by her siblings Alice (Louise) Chenard of Biddeford, ME, Alfred Chenard of Kennebunkport, ME, and James (Mike) Chenard and his wife Kathy of South Meriden, CT; she was also the sister of the late Kathleen Chenard, Marie Carrier, Jack Chenard, Theresa Blaney, and Sheila Chenard. In addition, she leaves behind her sister-in-law Nancy Chenard of Venice, FL, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Joan cherished her family deeply and will be remembered for her warmth and giving spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and many treasured memories. A small, private celebration of Joan’s beautiful life will be held on a future date.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that donations in Joan’s memory be made to Sunset Hospice, who compassionately cared for her during the last year of her life. Donations to Sunset Hospice would be a wonderful way to honor Joan's own generosity and kindness, as she volunteered with hospice early in her retirement.
