Hours at Lakeville Town Hall to be explored
LAKEVILLE — The potential financial impact of having all Lakeville town offices stay open the same hours will be explored by Town Administrator Ari Sky, Select Board members agreed at their Sept. 5 meeting.
The issue was raised by Select Board Member Lorraine Carboni, who questioned whether the current office hours, which vary by department, provided the best possible services to residents.
She suggested a potential schedule of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for everyone.
Some departments, board members acknowledged, have to work hours that wouldn’t fit this schedule, such as the library, Department of Public Works and the transfer station.
Town Clerk Lillian Drane urged select board members to maintain consistent hours for all departments if any changes were made.
At one point, Drane said, the Town Clerk’s office stayed open Monday nights to accommodate residents who might be unavailable during the day to pay bills.
But now, she said, electronic payments and drop-off boxes outside the building allow residents to pay at their convenience.
“We don’t have that demand anymore,’’ she said. Since late night openings stopped since the pandemic, she has received “no complaints’’ about the lack of night hours, she said.
