Grant provides nearly $3 million for water main project
MIDDLEBORO — Middleboro has been awarded nearly $3 million through a state grant to fund work on a project at Middleboro Logistics Park, located in South Middleboro.
The town received $2.8 million through the MassWorks Infrastructure Program, via the One Stop for Growth Awards. The money will be used to create a 16-inch lined iron water main and build a 2,250-foot extension along Route 28.
Middleboro was one of 171 communities that received grants, which are overseen by the state Executive Office of Economic Development.
The awards fund economic development projects related to planning and zoning, site preparation, building construction, infrastructure, and housing development.
“Communities will use these grants to build more housing and lower costs, improve road safety, revitalize their downtowns, create new jobs and more,’’ Gov. Maura Healey said in a press release issued by the state. “We can’t wait to see the results of these investments all across the state.”
"The One Stop is an important vehicle for supporting our communities by empowering them to pursue their vision for economic growth," said Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll. "By working together and keeping our focus at the local level, we are creating opportunity, supporting affordability, and enhancing quality of life for all of our residents."
