Girl Scouts join in Memorial Day remembrance
May 24, 2025
Girl Scouts from several troops in Lakeville and Freetown replaced the flags at White Cemetery in Freetown as part of the areas Memorial Day remembrance.
Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts Board of Directors member Michelle Hecht said troops “adopted” White Cemetery some time ago and replacing the flags has been a “cherished tradition for countless years.”
She said the troop leaders use replacing the flags as an “opportunity to teach the girls about the meaning of Memorial Day, why it matters, and flag etiquette.”
The Freetown VFW provided the flags.
