Girl Scout troops collect food for Thanksgiving meals

Nov 17, 2022

Living up to the “giving’’ portion of Thanksgiving, members of Lakeville Girl Scout Daisy and Brownie Troops recently collected 185 pounds of stuffing and cranberry sauce for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank’s annual Thanksgiving needs.

The Society of St. Vincent DePaul, which operates the Sacred Heart Food Pantry in Middleboro, provides area families in need a complete Thanksgiving meal consisting of a frozen turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, potatoes, vegetables, gravy, a pie, and dinner rolls.

Food Bank Director David Cunningham was appreciative of the Girl Scouts generous contribution.

The collection reflects an important tenet of Girl Scouting, Troop Leader Michelle Hecht said.

“As it says in the Girl Scout pledge, we are honored to teach our scouts the importance of helping people at all times.”
