MIDDLEBORO — The Friends of the Middleboro Public Library has received a grant of $2,500 from Mass Cultural Council, a state agency, through its Festivals and Projects Program.

This grant signifies that the Friends of the Middleboro Public Library, in conjunction with the staff at the library, provide significant public value through programs organized by the staff and funding support offered by the Friends, according to material provided by the Friends of the Middleboro Public Library.

As the community transitioned from the pandemic, library staff looked for opportunities to bring people together, the Friends reported. One strategy was to offer musical events that cover various genres and reach across the ages.

With support from the Friends of the Middleboro Public Library, the library implemented a concert series featuring bluegrass, folk, rock, country, Americana, jigs, and funk and two, family-friendly concerts that promote language acquisition, listening skills, memory, and motor skills while building a bond between adult and child.

The Friends of the Middleboro Public Library report that they are honored by this recognition and look forward to supporting activities and events that allow the Middleboro Public Library to be a significant cultural asset in the community.
